What is the difference between a
Moyen Standard Poodle VS Standard Poodle?
What is a Moyen Standard Poodle you ask?
Moyen simply means Medium in French. The Moyen poodle is pretty much just a smaller Standard Poodle. A Moyen Poodle falls right in between the Miniature and the Standard size poodle. Although AKC doesn't recognize Moyen as a size it is very popular in Europe.
The picture above shows the size difference side by side. Miss Bella (Black) is a F1 Moyen Goldendoodle from Callie and Marley. Henry (Cream) is a F1 Standard Goldendoodle from Callie and Bentley. Same Mom different Dads!
Marley is our Moyen Poodle Sire, he does fall on the high end of Moyen so some of his pups are a little bigger but not by much.
Bentley is our Standard Poodle Sire, he provides us with BIG pups but we absolutely love the variations!
What is a Hybrid Dog and are there any health benefits?
A hybrid dog combines the traits and characteristics of its purebred parents; with careful, conscientious breeding, the resulting pups may end up with the best attributes of each. Crossing purebred dogs of different breeds results in puppies that are healthier than either of their parents. This is because the two breeds are generally prone to different genetic problems. Hybrids such as the Goldendoodle or the Bernedoodle are only likely to inherit a health problem that is common to both the Poodle and the Golden/Bernese—two breeds that share few common diseases. Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles therefore have what is referred to as “hybrid vigor,” and can be expected to live healthier, longer lives than their purebred parents.
The Goldendoodle is a BEAUTIFUL cross between the Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are wonderful family and life companions. I always say they are like us humans! Goldendoodles are loyal, loving, gentle, and are amazing family dogs. Goldendoodles are active, intelligent, confident and eager to please. They are a top choice for family companions, therapy dogs and for many service dog organizations.
The Bernedoodle is an exquisite cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. The blend of the Bernese and the Poodle produces a smart, friendly, playful dog. They tend to have the sweetness and loyalty of the Bernese, and the goofy liveliness and intelligence of the Poodle. Like the Bernese, they are gentle around children and the elderly, and because they love to work, they often make excellent service/therapy dogs.
